TV Spoilers for June, 2007

24 might get a female president in season seven

Friday, June 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

24s6.jpg

Looks like the writers of 24 are considering going with a female president this time around. The timing would be pretty interesting considering Hillary Clinton could potentially be running for president too. But supposedly, the decision won’t have anything to do with whether Hillary does or doesn’t, but rather how the writers end up moving the show creatively for the show’s seventh season.

No word on who they may be considering for the role… any thoughts? Maybe they could bring on Geena Davis, as I enjoyed her in Commander in Chief ;) Ok, very likely not, but I am having trouble thinking of which female actress could play a great president with the current cast they have on 24.

Personally, I hope they go for a chick… but that could be because I am one!

The Sopranos actress Dania Ramirez joins Heroes

Thursday, June 21st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

daniaramirez.jpg

Looks like Dania Ramirez, who recently had a recurring role on the now-completed series The Sopranos, has signed onto Heroes.

She’ll be a regular and play a character with powers, according to The Hollywood Reporter, but the show is keeping any other details under wraps.

“Heroes” put out the call for several new characters last month — including a surrogate mother for Niki’s (Ali Larter) son and a boyfriend for Claire (Hayden Panettiere) — but Ramirez is expected to be the only series regular among the new group. It will also up the female contingent on the series; “Heroes” ended its season with only two women, Larter and Panettiere, among its nine surviving regulars.

Ramirez recently wrapped up a recurring part on “The Sopranos,” playing A.J.’s (Robert Iler) fiancee; her ending of the relationship sent him into a spiral of depression. She also co-starred in NBC’s drama pilot “Fort Pit” this past development season.

Next season is shaping up to kick some butt!

Robert Wisdom and Jodi Lyn O’Keefe have signed on to appear on Prison Break as regular cast members next season.

They will play new characters on the drama, which finds Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and the gang locked up in a Panama prison.

Wisdom will play Luchero, a Panamanian drug kingpin who is incarcerated and controls all the other inmates. O’Keefe will play Betty Crocker, an operative for the Company, a shadow government organization.

There hasn’t been much buzz coming out of Prison Break for the last while, so lets hope this is the start of some more Prison Break news and spoilers!

Grey’s Anatomy looking for a new male doctor to replace Burke

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Looks like Grey’s Anatomy will be looking for a new doc to replace the newly departed Burke, since ABC did not renew Isaiah Washington’s contract (surprise!). But doesn’t look like Brooke Smith will be the one returning to the show, unfortunately.

You wrote in the Ausiello Report about Brooke Smith doing a four-episode arc on Weeds. Is there any chance of her returning to Grey’s Anatomy next season? After all, Seattle Grace has a spot open for a cardiothoracic surgeon.— Laura
Ausiello: I hear they’re looking for a guy to fill that particular void.

I really enjoyed Brooke on the show and am sad to hear they won’t be making room for her next season… although all the sexual tension between her character and Burke would now be out the window.

Nick D’Agosto joins Heroes as Claire’s boyfriend

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

nickdagosto.jpg

We knew Claire would be getting a sexy new boyfriend in the second season of Heroes. But now we know who has been cast in the recurring role… Nick D’Agosto!

Word on the street is that the character, named West, will have a very cool super power, but of course they aren’t spilling the beans on what exactly it will be yet.

This past development season, D’Agosto co-starred opposite Marisa Tomei in CBS’ comedy pilot “The Rich Inner Life of Penelope Cloud.” Last year, he played the male lead opposite Mena Suvari in another CBS pilot, the drama “Orpheus.”

D’Agosto will next be seen in the indie comedy-drama “Rocket Science,” which premiered to strong reviews at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Too bad the new season of Heroes is still months away!

Constance Zimmer not returning to Boston Legal?

Monday, June 18th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

constancezimmer.jpg

Apparently Constance Zimmer has been telling friends she will not be returning to Boston Legal next season. This comes hot on the heels of ABC announcing that John Larroquette of Night Court fame has joined the show (and am I the only one that thinks it would be hysterical if he came back playing Dan Fielding as he is today?) But according to Ausiello, it sounds as though she won’t be back.

Jesse L. Martin signs contract for next season’s Law & Order

Monday, June 18th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

jesselmartin.jpg

Woohoo! Jesse L. Martin has signed a new contract for next season on Law & Order, for at least thirteen episodes of the upcoming season. He will be entering his nineth season playing Detective Ed Green.

The news comes hot on the heels of Jeremy Sisto signing onto the show as a defense attorney.

More cast members joining Boston Legal next season

Saturday, June 16th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

On top of John Larroquette joining the law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt next season, the show has added two new people, according to the ABC press release.

In addition, Emmy Award winner Christian Clemenson, who portrays Jerry “Hands” Espenson a fellow lawyer and friend of Alan Shore’s (James Spader) who suffers from Aspergers syndrome — joins the series as a cast regular, and Tara Summers (”Dirt”) also comes on board as a young associate of the Boston offices.

I am so eager for the new season!

Scoop on Dirty Sexy Money show & cast

Friday, June 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

We have some scoop on the new show Dirty, Sexy Money, which will premiere on ABC this fall. From the ABC website, which has a brand new website for the show.

The absurdly wealthy Darlings of New York, who own lavish properties around the globe and frequently vacation in glitzy locales like London, Milan, the Swiss Alps and their beloved Paris, France have asked him to take over his father’s job as their personal lawyer, but the money that will allow him the freedom to be an altruistic do-gooder is only part of the picture.

The show stars Peter Krause (Six Feet Under) as Nick George, Donald Sutherland (Commander in Chief) as Tripp Darling, William Baldwin (The Squid and the Whale, Backdraft) as Sen. Patrick Darling, Natalie Zea (Eyes) as Karen Darling, Glenn Fitzgerald (Six Feet Under) as Rev. Brian Darling, Samaire Armstrong (The O.C.) as Juliet Darling, Seth Gabel (The Da Vinci Code) as Jeremy Darling, Zoe McLennan (JAG) as Lisa, Laz Alonso (Stomp the Yard) as Colin, and Jill Clayburgh (Running with Scissors) as Letitia Darling.

Knights of Prosperity cancelled by ABC

Thursday, June 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

knightsofprosperity2.jpg

Following up on a few shows we never got around to saying what the status was (okay, we didn’t actually think we had any readers even interested on what happened to Knights of Prosperity, but apparently there is at least one of you out there!) But yes, ABC did officially cancel Knights of Prosperity.

Fans either LOOOOOVED this show or despised it, and ABC was supporting it so much I thought it was going to be renewed even though it tanked in the ratings. But no such luck, it got the ABC boot.

Night Court’s John Larroquette joins Boston Legal

Thursday, June 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

johnlarroquette.jpg

Crane, Poole & Schmidt law offices are getting a new senior partner next season, and the partner will be played by none other than John Larroquette!

I admit, I used to love watching Larroquette and his womanizing ways on Night Court. And he will join the show as a lawyer who transfers into the Boston office.

They sure have managed to snag some great talent from older shows ala Star Trek and Murphy Brown, so why not Night Court. I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

After Dancing with the Stars, Heather Mills refuses to do more reality tv

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

heathermills.jpg

Looks like Heather Mills won’t be putting herself in front of television cameras for reality TV again anytime soon. She has vowed that her Dancing with the Stars stint was the first and last appearance on reality television.

The former model was voted off the show in April (07) after competing successfully for six weeks. She enjoyed the experience so much she’s since revealed plans to take her dancing partner on a motivational speaking tour around the U.S.

However, her enthusiasm doesn’t extend to the reality show format itself, which she brands destructive.

Mills says, “(The show was) a one-off. Reality shows, to me are when they get into personal stuff and bring negativity in. This was all positive.

“(But) I’d never do another reality show.”

Considering her approval in the general public leaped ahead thanks to her appearance on the show, her refusal to do anymore kind of surprises me. Perhaps she needs to have another run-in with her ex showing her to be a gold digger before she goes and makes an appearance on something like Survivor… or Bachelor!

Hidden Palms to end two weeks earlier than planned

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

I guess Hidden Palms isn’t doing that well for the CW, since they seem pretty anxious to get it off the schedule as quickly as possible. The season (series?) finale was supposed to air on July 18th, but it has now been bumped up to July 4th, meaning CW will air back-to-back episodes two weeks in a row. And not only that, the show had “encore” episodes airing on Sundays, which have been removed from the schedule immediately.

On Wednesday, June 13, Hidden Palms will air as usual at 8pm. But on Wednesday June 20th and 27th, the show will air new episodes at 8 and 9pm. Then July 4th will have the one hour season finale airing at 8pm.

They are now airing Reba repeats in the Sunday timeslot… wondering if they are wishing they hadn’t cancelled the series now!

Dancing with the Stars Julianne Hough launches singing career

Monday, June 11th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

apolojulianne3.jpg

Julianne Hough, best known as winning Dancing with the Stars with Olympic speedskater (and hottie!) Apolo Ohno, has launched a singing career. She has a new single “Will You Dance With Me” (how ironic!) which is available via iTunes, where 10,000 copies have already been downloaded.

No more news on the do-they-or-don’t-they relationship between the not-getting-married Julianne Hough and Apolo Anton Ohno… although I wonder why she used the dancing tour as her excuse for not getting married, when she seems to be busy in Nashville meeting with country music execs.

Anyone heard the song? Is it any good?

Does Sopranos finale open the door for a Sopranos movie?

Sunday, June 10th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

sopranoswitnessprotection.jpg

So the show ends with the bells jingling on the door in the diner… is it just Meadow, who was having issues parallel parking? Or is it someone much more sinister too? Well, we will never know, because that is the moment that series creator David Chase decided to fade to black. Does the person at the door wield a gun to exterminate the entire family? Or is it really just law-school-hopeful Meadow?

The entire scene was filled with tension… and fans were all waiting for the inevitable… or what seemed to be inevitable… the gunning down of Tony Soprano in front of his family.

So what does this mean? Well, for starters, it aggravates a whole slew of Sopranos fans who wanted closure, darn it! Either kill him or let him sing for the feds, but neither happened.

So does this open the door to a Sopranos movie? Could be, especially after Sex and the City, another HBO hit, has just finally signed their own movie deal for the big screen. And you know that after six extended years of the show that the cast is itching to do more movies than the extended hiatuses could afford. So can we expect to see Sopranos on the big screen too? Time will only tell, but the door was definitely left VERY open for the possibility.

Dirty Sexy Money using Paris jailhouse scandal to promote new show

Sunday, June 10th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Looks like Dirty Sexy Money is using the whole Paris Hilton jail saga to promote its own show, which is centered on a family not that unlike the Hilton clan.

ABC used a plane to fly over both Paris Hilton’s house and the courthouse Friday which said “We love Paris. The Darling Family”. They also took out full page ads with the same in the Los Angeles Times and the New York Post. The show reference to Paris refers to the Darling family owning homes in Paris, France, but the double entendre is quite obvious.

Sopranos series finale spoilers removed from Wikipedia

Saturday, June 9th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Wikipedia had some Sopranos spoilers posted on the Wikipedia Sopranos page for the series finale episode, although one of the editors had since removed it… too spoilerish? Lucky for us, one of our readers sent us a copy. Here you go!

The episode was written and directed by the show’s creator David Chase, marking the first time Chase has directed an episode since the series premiere. It is due to air on Sunday June 10, 2007. David Chase is said to have shot three different endings in case spoilers found their way on the internet.

The episode opens at a gas station in upstate New york a couple pull up to a pump in a red Cadillac. It is revealed to be Phil and Patty Leotardo. Phil gets out and begins to fill his tank when Benny Fazio approaches him from behind and shoots him twice in the head. Benny runs and gets into a sedan driven by Patsy Parisi and the two speed off as an african american youth onlooker throws up.

We see see Tony Soprano, Paulie Walnuts, Carlo Gervasi, and Dante Greco playing cards in the safehouse from the prior episode. Tony gets a call from Benny on a payphone. He says “The Shaw’s gone,” and hangs up. Tony get up and motions for Paulie to follow. The two get into his Escalade after putting his AR-10 inot the backseat. The two drive to Satriales and sit outside all the while discussing days past in Johnny Boy Sopranos heyday. Paulie is working on his tan and Tony is smoking a cigar when a black Cadillac sedan approaches. Little Carmine Luperatazzi exits the backseat while the car drives around the corner. They seat themselves across from Tony and Paulie and begin to discuss recent affairs. After many malaprosims from Carmine and some moronic rambling from Paulie Tony laughs and interjects saying he is proud to be present at the first sit down between the new bosses of New Jersey and Brooklyn. Paulie and Carmine both appear shocked and Tony tells them its long over due and Paulie has been passed up too many times. Tony leaves the two and goes inside to speak with Agent Harris. Who is seen sitting in the back corner. Harris acknowledges Carmines presence and asks if hes to take that Carmine’s the new boss of Brooklynn Tony tells him to, “Take whatever the *beep* you want and take one last Veal Parm Hero on the house.”

We now see AJ, Carmella, and Meadow in a motel room. A knock on the door prompts Carmella to remove a .45 automatic from her purse and walk to the door and ask whos there? Meadow reading the paper and AJ watching t.v. are both scared. After a long silence a familiar voice say’s “A loving father and husband.” Carmella opens the door and Tony and Paulie enter they all leave and go back to Casa De Soprano. After arriving home Janice Pulls up, leaves her kids there and her and Tony leave. Leaving Paulie to guard their respective families. The two arrive at a state hospital where they enter one at a time to talk to their Uncle Junior.

The two make small talk until the shooting comes up. Junior apologizes and said he was out of his head and that he always loved Tony even when he didnt show it. Tony and Janice return home around night fall and Tony and Paulie leave again. Carmela is worried and Tony tells her not to worry because this is the last time he will be leaving like this.

Paulie and Tony are sitting in his car at night in an empty parking lot as the snow is falling discussing Paulies promotion. Tony says he will be happy to be Consigliere to Paulie. When headlights shine upon them, the two get out and walk toward a parked SUV. Butch DeConcini and Albie Cianflone exit it and walk toward them. They discuss peace and Tony tells them that if ran under Carmine, Brooklyn could expect no problems from them. They shake hands and Tony suggests a drink to celebrate. Tony walks back to his car and opens the backseat. Tony pulls out a large object covered in a black plastic garbage bag. Paulie runs off to the side and throws himself down and Albie and Butch pull out pistols but are too late when the garbage bag erupts with machine gun fire. Tony helps Paulie out of the snow and the two admire the AR-10 and two dead bodies. Tony looks the gun over and admires a phrase written on the stock. “Made In America.” The two then drive away.

We see the Soprano home at daylight the next day. Carmela is in the bathtub, Meadow is asleep, and AJ is unlocking the hidden gun closet in an indoor column. He removes something and then goes outside. We see the pool once again uncovered, yet empty with AJ sitting in the botton holding a hand grenade. He pulls the pin out and holds the handle. He hesitates and throws it to the other end of the pool and it blows up dirtying him. Carmela comes outside with her .45 and nearly shoots her son. Tony arrives to see him sitting on the couch being questioned. AJ says it was so cool. Tony laughs and writes it off and tells everyone to get in the car. Carmela asks where there going and Tony replies, “Out for ice cream.”

We see a number of things in the final scene: Paulie the surviving Jersey crew with Carmine and his crew having dinner together and toasting the two’s promotions, Silvio’s heartbeat monitor going flat, and Janice in a small home with her three kids appearing miserable, Agent Harris arresting the two muslims from the Bada Bing apparently making bombs, Pat Blundetto breaking Junior out of the state hospital, and Dr. Jennifer Melfi smiling alone in her office while reading about the recent gangland slayings and Anthony Sopranos apparent stepping down as boss. Finally we see Tony and his immediate family together at an ice cream parlor.Tony then tells his family that he is no longer depressed and that being with his family and them being safe was better than all the therapists and Prozac in the world. It just took all this *beep* to make him see it. AJ says he’s happy just to be alive and that he has snapped out of it as well. Tony proposes a toast to his family mirroring the season one finale “I Dream Of Jeannie Cusamano”.
