Law & Order’s Fred Thompson likely won’t be back next season

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Now that we know Law & Order has been given a reprieve and will be on NBC next season, the question was still up in the air on what to do about Fred Thompson, who potentially may run as the Republican presidential candidate in the upcoming US presidential election. Fred Thompson currently plays D.A. Arthur Branch on the long-running drama.

NBC’s top entertainment executive said Monday that he doesn’t expect actor and potential Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson back on “Law & Order” next season.

NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly claimed no insider knowledge of Thompson’s political plans, but his statement indicated the seriousness of Thompson’s presidential musings. The former Tennessee senator has been making speaking appearances and blogging on issues in recent weeks as he considers a candidacy.

“It’s pretty clear that Fred is going to be leaving the cast of the show no matter what,” Reilly said at a news conference on NBC’s fall schedule.

He later left the door slightly ajar by saying it was “highly unlikely” Thompson would be back. Thompson certainly wouldn’t return to prime-time network television if he chooses to run, he said.

I don’t know, I just have a hard time picturing him as the Republican candidate.

October Road confirmed for second season but return is delayed

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

octoberroad.jpg

Fans of the critically acclaimed October Road will be pleased to know that it will be returning for a second season on ABC. But fans will have to wait even longer, since ABC has planned it as a mid-season replacement series.

This means it could debut anytime from late fall to late winter, depending on how well the brand new series does in the ratings. Don’t forget that the series did not even premiere until March this year. So there currently is not a time slot available for the show.

Why we didn’t meet Amber Alchalabi’s parents during the Bachelor’s hometown visit

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Looks like Amber Alchalabi’s parents weren’t so happy with their daughter’s choice to find true love on reality television, and that is why we didn’t meet her parents during the traditional hometown visit. Instead, Baldwin only met her roommate.

Talk about an uncomfortable situation. If I was Andy, I’d sure be wondering why my date’s parents refused to meet me, and I’m betting that is the true reason why Amber didn’t get the hometown visit rose. Who wants to be stuck with in-laws that hate you!

FOX renews 24 for two more seasons, or two more days in 24 time

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

24.jpg

You will be able to get your 24 fix for at least two more seasons, which really boils down to a mere two days in the lifetime of the show, after FOX picked up the popular drama to continue running through the 2008-2009 primetime season.

Fox has renewed the Emmy-winning real-time drama starring Kiefer Sutherland through the 2008-09 season. Sutherland is already locked to stay with the show through 2009.

“24″ has had a roller-coaster ride the past couple of seasons, earning rave reviews for season five, which was capped by a best drama series Emmy and drawing criticism by some fans for the plotline in the current sixth season.

So yes ladies, it looks like you can enjoy Jack Bauer for another two years, because one can only assume that 24 would not be continuing without Jack.

Cashmere Mafia picked up by ABC

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Cashmere Mafia has officially been picked up by ABC. The Sex and the City stylized show follows four women, who are played by Lucy Liu (Ally McBeal, Charlie’s Angels), Miranda Otto (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Frances O’Connor (Iron Jawed Angels, Timeline) and Bonnie Somerville (NYPD Blue, Kitchen Confidential).

Their names are Dylan, Juliet, Caitlin and Zoe. But you’ll come to know them as the Cashmere Mafia: four Manhattan women bonded by their Ivy League educations and executive success. A thinking woman’s Sex and the City mixed with the wit of The Devil Wears Prada, this one-hour drama assembles a cast of bright, driven, relatable women who support each other through rocky marriages, rival colleagues, kids’ recitals and the hunt for the perfect loft. Ambition always comes with a price. Consistently outpacing their male colleagues and husbands in salary and title, they also have to watch out for scheming bitches eager to bring them down.

Fortunately, there’s strength in numbers. These successful executives regularly bring their problems to the lunch table and use each other’s strengths and resources to avert disaster, both personally and professionally. With style, smarts and appeal, the Cashmere Mafia is about to bring sexy back to the boardroom, while unexpected heart and humor keep their stories compelling. From producer Darren Star (Sex and the City) and writer Kevin Wade (Working Girl) comes a compelling, intimate and unflinching look at an ensemble of high-powered women whose most valuable assets are their friendship and their willingness to have it all without giving an inch.

Interestingly, the pilot episode will feature one of the female characters falling in love with another woman at work. The character is played by Bonnie Sommerville, but not much more is known about it yet.

Grey’s Anatomy might lose another main character for next season

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

After the whole situation with Isaiah Washington and T.R. Knight, there has been some strange responses from ABC when it comes to who all is coming back next season. And that doesn’t just refer to Kate Walsh, whose character Addison is leaving for Private Practice, which was just picked up for the fall season.

Kristen from E! has some scoop!

Grey’s Anatomy’s Cast May Be Losing a Member: As reporters met with McPherson at ABC headquarters this a.m., the most asked question was about Grey’s Anatomy’s on-set scandal, and whether Isaiah Washington or T.R. Knight might be leaving the show. The answers ranged from, “At this point, nothing’s been decided,” to “The show will return intact next season,” to “Most of the cast will return.” Call it a hunch, but something tells me a main cast member may indeed be leaving—or at the very least, left cliff-hanging at the end of the season.

I would be so happy to see Isaiah Washington leave the show, maybe he will be the one to get cold feet at the wedding!

Update: Also not looking good for Isaiah, when asked if he would be back next season by a lone cameraman, he refused to answer. Check out the video on TMZ.

Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Private Practice picked up for fall schedule

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Well, much to the chagrin of many fans, the Kate Walsh led Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Private Practice has been picked up by ABC for the fall schedule. But in a curious move, instead of airing it following Grey’s Anatomy to ensure that fans watch at least the first few episodes to get hooked, they have given it a Wednesday time slot.

ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff will air next fall on an all-new Wednesday night schedule, one of 11 new series the network plans for next season.

“Private Practice” features Dr. Addison Shepard, who leaves Seattle for work in Los Angeles. A special “Grey’s Anatomy” that effectively served as the show’s pilot was seen by 21 million people earlier this month.

Veteran TV actors Merrin Dungey, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs and Amy Brenneman will join star Kate Walsh in “Private Practice,” which will air at 9 p.m.

I’m still not impressed, I wanted the Alex-Addison hookup to work itself out!

New Heroes spoilers & videos for season finale

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Here are some video clips from the season finale of Heroes, the episode is titled “How to Stop an Exploding Man”. The first one is the Canadian promo with different footage than what fans in the US saw.

But first for spoilers, it looks suspiciously like Matt is the one dying. Simone is back and Molly seems to be sick again.

And Kristen from E! has some great spoilers for the finale:

Four Characters End the Season “in Peril”: This is what the cast told me today, and I think “peril” is code for “may or may not be coming back next season.” The good news? I can assure you that Hayden, Milo, Adrian and Ali will all be back for sure next season. I personally think D.L. (duh), Matt (shown injured in the preview) and Ando are most at risk. (Micah and Molly are of course safe, ’cause you can’t kill kids on television!)

Hiro Is So That Ancient Warrior Kensei: It almost seems obvious now, right?

Enjoy!

Law & Order: Criminal Intent will air episodes on USA Network prior to NBC

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Law & Order: Criminal Intent will be back with a full season of 22 episodes, but those episodes will air first on the USA Network instead of NBC. The unusual deal means that L&O: Criminal Intent will stay on the air for its eighth season, and won’t make the rumored move to TNT.

After some brief conversations about shifting “Law & Order” to Time Warner Inc.’s TNT, the decision was made to keep “Criminal Intent” for USA, said Jeff Zucker, chairman of NBC Universal.

NBC and USA are corporate cousins within NBC Universal, and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” reruns make up some of its most popular programming. Now USA will be able to premiere a full season’s worth of 22 episodes of what had been an established network series, a first for the business.

The series is entering its seventh season.

“This was a strategic decision by us,” Zucker said. “We are really taking USA to a new stratosphere.”

It’s not clear when “Criminal Intent” episodes will air on NBC; they will probably be used to fill a hole when a new fall drama fails.

An interesting move, but I am sure CI fans will be happy to watch it wherever it airs, whether that is USA or NBC.

Law & Order was also picked up for its 18th season by NBC.

NBC picks up Law & Order for 18th season

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Despite rumors that Law & Order would be moving to TNT, turns out that NBC will be running the series after all. The reprieve also brings it closer to eclipsing the longest running drama on television record currently held by Gunsmoke, which aired for 20 seasons from 1955 through 1975.

The deal was apparently made last minute between NBC and Law & Order’s producer Dick Wolf. So fans can look forward to a new season of Law & Order, although it remains up in the air if Fred Thompson will return to the series or not, since he may be running as the Republican candidate for president if things go his way.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent was also picked up, but with a network-crossing twist.

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Well, we knew it wasn’t looking good for What About Brian to be back for another season, but ABC made it official by not placing it on the fall schedule, without even a hope for being a midseason replacement show.

Spoilers for King of Queens series finale tonight

Monday, May 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

The King of Queens will draw to a close tonight and will include a look at the previous nine seasons. We also have a few tidbits to pass along about the finale.

CBS asked critics not to spoil the story, as if our consciences would allow such a thing. So let’s just say that writer Michael J. Weithorn resolves a shaky Heffernan marriage, the impending wedding of Carrie’s dad, Arthur (Jerry Stiller), and Doug and Carrie’s quest for an adoption in China. All of these situations are dealt with in ways that will surprise no one but that, nonetheless, should satisfy the show’s fans and followers.

The King of Queens was never a ratings dazzler but performed solidly for CBS over the years.

NBC undecided if Donald Trump’s The Apprentice will be back next season

Monday, May 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Now this is a shocker… NOT. The Apprentice, which suffered from low ratings and the dismal influence of the Trump children this past season, has not been picked up by NBC for the fall, at least not yet. Officially, NBC is “undecided” on the situation.

I say dump the Trump kiddies, bring back the former judges, and run with it. I guess we can’t really get rid of Donald though, unfortunately! Or can we…

Earl Cole gets a 9-0 voting shutout in Survivor Fiji finale

Monday, May 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

This is a first in all the seasons of Suvivor… the winner of Survivor: Fiji pulled off the unimaginable and nabbed all 9 of the votes cast by the former castaways.

Earl Cole, a senior advertising executive in Los Angeles, was a unanimous winner in Sunday night’s Survivor: Fiji finale.
The 35-year-old Kansas City, Kan., native beat Los Angeles civil engineer Cassandra Franklin, 42, and Dre “Dreamz” Herd, 25, a cheerleading coach from Wilmington, N.C., in the finals - the reality show’s 14th season.

Host Jeff Probst said the 9-0 vote was the show’s first shutout.

Yau-Man Chan, a 54- year-old computer engineer, made it to the final four before being voted off, despite making a deal with Herd, who reneged.

Kenward “Boo” Bernis, 34, of Lafayette, La., was voted off earlier in the episode.

Guess he is a shoo-in for a future Survivor All-Stars edition!

Crossing Jordan is officially canceled by NBC

Monday, May 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

crossingjordancast.jpg

Crossing Jordan is no more, and the season finale of the series - which airs this week - will also be the series finale.

I was so hoping for that reprieve after rumors abounded that maybe it would be coming back. But alas it has been chopped off the fall schedule.

Principal at Amber Alchalabi’s school forced to resign after allowing Amber to appear on the show

Monday, May 14th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Considering we have seen teachers appear on the Bachelor numerous times over the years, apparently the parents at the school where Amber Alchalabi teachers are a bit more conservative when it comes to romancing on reality TV.

Colony Bend Elementary School principal Tammie Carpenter was reassigned and demoted from her position for allowing the recently rejected Alchalabi — a fourth-grade teacher at the school — a 22-school day absence to compete on The Bachelor’s tenth installment. While she resigned rather than face the punishment from the Fort Bend Independent School District, Carpenter apparently had a change of heart.

“The district accepted her resignation upon receipt,” district spokeswoman Mary Ann Simpson told the website FortBendNow, which reports on Fort Bend County, TX, on Wednesday. “Now she has sent the district information that she does not want to resign.”

Given the support Carpenter had reportedly received support from parents of Colony Bend Elementary School students, Timothy Jenney, the district’s superintendent, was mulling over the idea of rescinding the resignation,

“[Jenney] is meeting with some of the Colony Bend Elementary parents [on Wednesday night] at their request,” Simpson told FortBendNow. “There will be no decisions or action taken [at the meeting].”

However following that meeting, Carpenter apparently reversed course once again, as she has rescinded her own request for reinstatement, Houston’s KTRK-TV ABC television affiliate reported Friday.

“[Carpenter’s] attorney tells us [Jenney] made some untruthful statements during a meeting with parents Wednesday night and she will not work for someone like that,” KTRK-TV reported.

Um, yeah. Talk about making a confusing situation even more confusing! But looks like Amber won’t be back teaching fourth graders again next year at Colony Bend Elementary.
