On the Lot cuts back to one show a week from two

Thursday, May 31st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

On the Lot, despite attracting all-star celebrity judges, has continues to suck even more in the ratings. So FOX has decided to cut back the show from its current twice-weekly airings, a staple for most reality shows where someone gets voted off, to only one show a week.

Now, both the competition and the results show will now be combined into one show a week, airing on Tuesdays at 8pm. This starts with next week’s show on June 5th.

The two night finale is still going to run over two nights, instead of being condensed to one show. The finale will air Monday August 13th and Tuesday August 14th at 8pm both nights.

They also plan to keep a special show airing on Monday, June 9th at 8pm because of the Major League Baseball game airing the night before.

This show has suffered from a surprisingly lack of hype, and nearly zero press… while I can remember a ton of So You Think You Can Dance ads, I don’t think I can recall a single On the Lot ad.

Bones has been picked up by FOX for a third season. The show will air on Wednesday nights at 9pm… well, at least until American Idol takes over the FOX airwaves later on in the 2007/2008 television season!

New book by Dog the Bounty Hunter published this August

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

dogbountyhunter.jpg
Looks like maybe Duane “Dog” Chapman can either write, or he’s hired himself a damn good ghost writer, because he is the author of a book being published this August.

The non-fiction book is aptly titled “You Can Run but You Can’t Hide” and will be published August 7, 2007. From the book:

Duane “Dog” Chapman entertains and inspires millions on Dog the Bounty Hunter, his #1-rated show on A&E — but there is more to his story. From troubled beginnings and tragedy to triumph and transformation, he reveals all for the first time in this no-holds-barred memoir.

Dog spent the first twenty-three years of his life on the wrong side of the law. In You Can Run, but You Can’t Hide, he offers an inside look at his days as a gang member; his dark years of addiction and abuse; and how serving eighteen months in prison for a murder he didn’t commit helped him recommit to his faith. He also shares stories of some of his most dangerous bounty hunts — including his capture of Max Factor heir and convicted rapist Andrew Luster, which made international headlines.

In You Can Run, but You Can’t Hide, Dog recounts his incredible story, chronicling his journey from his onetime criminal past to the guiding faith that has led him to become one of the most successful bounty hunters in American history. Against all odds, Dog turned his life around and went from ex-con to American icon in the process. This is his story.

“Bounty hunting isn’t your average nine-to-five job. But then, I’m not your average guy. I have had guns pointed in my face so many times I’ve lost count. I have been stabbed, beaten, scratched, beat up, and hit with every imaginable (and unimaginable) weapon of choice. I’ve been tossed through windows, pushed through walls, and shoved through doors. Does that make me a tough guy? You bet.Bounty hunting is definitely not for the faint of heart. But I don’t do it to prove I’m tougher or smarter than some other guy. I do it because I have been there. I have been the bad guy. I know firsthand how messed up the system can be. Despite it all, I still believe in truth and justice. My name is Duane Lee Chapman. My friends call me Dog, Dog the Bounty Hunter.” –from You Can Run, but You Can’t Hide

Admit it, this is the book you will quietly order on Amazon and hide in your bedside table where no one will see it ;) Yep, I’ll probably be getting it!

The timing of this book is likely coinciding with his new A&E special called Dogography, which looks at what made Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Pushing Daisies casts Kristin Chenoweth and other Broadway stars

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

It seems that the casting director for Pushing Daisies got a lot of inspiration - and cast members - from Broadway.

Among the cast are Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, who is currently appearing in the City Center Encores! presentation of Stairway to Paradise; Little Shop of Horrors’ Ellen Greene; Tony Award winner Swoosie Kurtz; Closer’s Anna Friel; “Boston Public” actor Chi McBride; and Lee Pace, who was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance as a transsexual in “Soldier’s Girl.”

The fantasy crime drama, Variety says, “revolves around a man [Pace] who discovers he can resurrect dead people with the touch of his hand — but that if he touches them again, they once again leave this mortal coil.”

About the series, Chenoweth recently told Playbill.com, “[Lee Pace is] a talented individual. He plays a guy who can bring people back from the dead. Now it sounds hokey, sounds like, ‘Oh we’ve seen that before.’ But the trick is this: He can touch people — that’s how he brings them back, but he has 60 seconds to decide. If he touches them again before 60 seconds, they go back to being dead. If he leaves it, they live, but somebody else drops dead. It’s very complicated. But Bryan Fuller is the writer, and Barry Sonnenfeld directed it. You know, I read the script and, again, I’m pretty picky. It’s gotta be something really interesting for me to [accept a role] — whether it goes or succeeds is besides the point. It really has to speak to me. There’s a love triangle, and I play one of the girls. It’s a great cast.”

I love Kristin, right back from being a fan of Wicked, so I am happy to see she is in this show. The premise of this show is pretty interesting too, hopefully it works well on film too!

Spice Girl Melanie Brown (Mel B) to dance on next Dancing with the Stars

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Looks like the leaks are already starting for the next season of Dancing with the Stars, just a week after Apolo Anton Ohno & partner Julianna won the fourth season. Melanie Brown, best known as Mel B. of the Spice Girls, and more recently as being the (supposed?) baby mama to Eddie Murphy’s newest baby, is reportedly already practicing to appear in the next season of Dancing with the Stars.

While she isn’t the first Spice Girl on the list that I’d chose, you know she will bring the drama!

Kristen Bell is the Gossip Girl

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Kristen Bell - best known as Veronica Mars - is set to be involved in a new CW project, this time as narrator of the new Gossip Girl series. Her voice will be the one of the Gossip Girl, whose identity remains unknown, at least for know! She reports on all the gossip and goings on, meaning who is hooking up, who is cheating, and more!

Wonder if the Gossip Girl’s identity is revealed if she will be joining the cast on-screen? You have to think that is what the CW execs are thinking, otherwise why tap such a high profile person to the job?

On the Lot season finale details

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

On the Lot will air its season finale on FOX over two nights, one being the final competition night and the following night as the results show.

The one hour competition night will air on Monday, August 13th at 8pm. And the next night will see the results show airing, also at 8pm.

Of course, all of this is subject to change… if On the Lot turns into a runaway hit, you can only assume that FOX will pull an American Idol and expand either the cometition or the results show to a two hour extravaganza!

House lands the coveted post-Super Bowl XLII slot for 2008

Monday, May 28th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

house.jpg

Apparently, someone at FOX really loves House, because they have already announced the fact that House will be the show to follow the Super Bowl XLII in January 2008. It seems a little odd that they would announce it so soon, we’re talking well over a half-year in advance.

Remember the success Grey’s Anatomy had when the post-Super Bowl episode really ramped things up by getting new viewers on board? With all the new series FOX is launching for the 2007-2008 season, I can’t help but wonder if they might have wanted to delay the decision in order to ensure they were making the right one, rather than announcing this so darn early.

No word if there will be a super special episode, but we will keep you posted as more details are known.

Last time FOX had the chance, in 2005, they aired an episode of Simpsons and premiered American Dad (do you even remember that one??)

Maybe they have another reason to keep the cast of House happy?

Deanna Casaluce - Alex - leaving Degrassi next season

Sunday, May 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

deannacasalucedegrassi.jpg

After being the center of the season finale this year after Deanna Casaluce’s character Alex takes a job as a stripper/waitress at a gentleman’s club, she has revealed that the upcoming season seven of Degrassi the Next Generation will be her final season on the series. She has played Alex for three seasons already.

In her interview with CTV.ca:

CTV.ca: What’s next for you in your acting career?

Deanna: This is the very tip of the iceberg; at least I hope it is. I think after this season, season seven, I’ll be leaving the show. I’m planning on moving to Los Angeles in September.

I’m halfway done a degree in philosophy with a minor in social psychology, and I’m leaving that behind for now. I would like to finish my degree because I love learning. But I’m too busy right now.

I am sure fans won’t be happy to hear she is leaving!

Sunday, May 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

gossipgirl.jpg

The teen book series Gossip Girl by Cecily Von Ziegesar has been picked up as a series to air on the CW this fall. The series is being marked as a Sex in the City for teens and beyond and follows a group of Manhattan teens, all of whom are pretty well off. So shopping sprees (only the good stuff!), trips to the Hamptons, all the exclusive private schools and of course the hottest clubs for partying in NYC.

There will also be plenty of relationships, both on the best friend basis and with guys, so expect fighting, hookups, cheating and all the typical things you see from spoiled teenage girls.

The show will begin airing in the fall on Wednesdays at 9 on the CW.

Dancing with the Stars Apolo Anton Ohno reason for Julianna Hough’s canceled wedding?

Sunday, May 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

apolojulianne.jpg

We all saw the chemistry between Apolo Anton Ohno and his dancing partner Juliana Hough. But is he the reason why the eighteen-year-old canceled her upcoming wedding to fiance Zach Wilson?

Their chemistry in the ballroom contributed to two-time Olympic gold medalist speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno and his professional partner Julianne Hough receiving Dancing with the Stars’ fourth season mirror ball trophy, but inquiring minds across America have been wondering if the spark between the pair was extinguished since the dancing shoes have came off.

“There’s no truth to [the rumors of a romantic relationship]. Our relationship was strictly professional. It was sometimes goofy, but strictly professional,” Ohno told the New York Post.

Fueling speculation about a possible romance was the fact that Hough canceled her August 8, 2007 wedding to former dancer Zach Wilson less than two weeks before Dancing with the Stars’ fourth season finale. Hough and Wilson were planning to wed in a Mormon ceremony in her home state of Utah, but due to her busy schedule with Ohno on Dancing with the Stars, the couple instead decided to wait to tie the knot. However Ohno says Hough’s wedding postponement and his chemistry with the 18-year-old professional dancer should not cause people to speculate.

Apparently her finance isn’t worried, but given Apolo’s bad boy rep, shouldn’t he be!!! And canceling the wedding just two weeks before the season finale of Dancing with the Stars? I can’t help but wonder why they wouldn’t have quietly announced that the wedding was off AFTER the final episode.

But supposedly the wedding is merely being postponed… for now.

But don’t they look cosy in these photos from the premiere of Pirates of the Carribbean 3? (courtesy Reuters)

Former Bachelor Jesse Palmer retires from professional football

Sunday, May 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

jessepalmerbachelor.jpg

Looks like Hollywood came calling… Jessie Palmer has officially retired from professional football after a lacklustre career that was most notable as his turn on ABC’s Bachelor. Jessie was ABC’s fifth Bachelor, which aired the spring of 2004. He chose Jessica Bowlin for the final rose, but axed the traditional engagement ring for a one-way plane ticket (Ouch!) Not surprisingly, they announced their split shortly after the final rose ceremony. His football career was going just as well!

Jesse Palmer’s charming personality and good looks may have helped him on The Bachelor’s fifth season but it did nothing for his football career, which reportedly came to an end Thursday.

The 28-year-old quarterback had stints with the NFL’s New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, as well as more recently with the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes, before walking away from the game this week to pursue a broadcasting career back in the States, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported Thursday.

Similar to the five seasons he spent as a backup quarterback with the Giants and 49ers in the NFL, Palmer never got the chance to play during his brief CFL career, as he spent the second half of last season on the Alouettes’ developmental roster. Jim Popp, the team’s coach and general manager, was unwavering in his decision to stick with veteran quarterback Anthony Calvillo for the upcoming CFL season, but added that didn’t effect Palmer’s decision to retire, according to the CBC.

Interestingly enough, after the Bachelor aired, Jesse lost his spot as backup quarterback to Tim Hasselbeck… yep, the very husband of former Survivor Elisabeth (Filarski) Hasselbeck and current co-host of The View… and was cut from the team.

Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall as permanent On the Lot judges

Sunday, May 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

apparently both Carrie Fisher and Garry Marshall enjoyed their time as judges for the audition round of On the Lot, as they have both signed on to be permanent judges.

As the cameras continue rolling on the new moviemaking competition series ON THE LOT, executive-produced by Mark Burnett and Steven Spielberg, actress, author and screenwriter Carrie Fisher (”Star Wars,” “Postcards From The Edge”) and director/producer Garry Marshall (”Georgia Rule,” “Pretty Woman”) are confirmed as the series’ two permanent judges after appearing as guest judges in the audition rounds. Director D.J. Caruso (”Disturbia”) will join Fisher and Marshall as a guest judge on the competition’s first “Film Premiere” and “Box Office” results shows. Entertainment news anchor Adrianna Costa serves as the show host.

The special two-hour first “Film Premiere” episode, featuring comedic short films individually produced and directed by the 18 finalists, who are competing for a $1-million DreamWorks development deal, airs Monday, May 28 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. While the judges will give their personal critiques of the films, it will be up to the American public to determine the first finalists to be eliminated from the competition; voting results will be announced the following night on the expanded first “Box Office” results show Tuesday, May 29 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT). ON THE LOT’s weekly “Film Premiere” episodes air in their regular time period beginning Monday, June 4 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), and the weekly “Box Office” results shows will air on Tuesdays (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) starting Tuesday, June 5.
