Grey’s Anatomy spinoff gets a name and a pilot air date

Saturday, March 31st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

The much hyped Grey’s Anatomy pilot gets a name - Private Practice - and an air date for the pilot episode, May 10th. However, the name is simply the one being used by the network when courting the media buyers, so who knows if it will stick. Personally, I think the name sucks, they could have come up with something (anything!) that would have been 100 times better. But then, does it matter if the title sucks when I am secretly hoping it will fail ;)

Ghost Whisperer launches special web episodes

Saturday, March 31st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

ghostwhisperer.jpg

CBS is launching a new series within a series with new Ghost Whisperer: The Other Side “episodes” which are being aired exclusively at CBS.com, although one of the characters will be featured in a crossover in an actual episode - the season finale - being aired on CBS. The web episodes are seen a a companion series to Ghost Whisperer, and will feature the world through the eyes of a ghost.

The first episodes are now available online.

Every Friday, fans can watch a new episode of GHOST WHISPERER: THE OTHER SIDE, a unique web series that shows the spirit world from the perspective of an earthbound spirit, Zach, who searches for answers regarding his recent death. As Zach learns to navigate around the spirit world, he meets an array of ghosts who teach him how to intersect with the land of the living. The character of Zach will make a special appearance on the second season finale of GHOST WHISPERER.

GHOST WHISPERER: THE OTHER SIDE features Zach (Mark Hapka), the young earthbound spirit seeking answers regarding his death; Danny (Matthew Alan), a friend of Zach’s who Zach holds responsible for his death; Sarah (Robin Hines), Zach’s temptress and teacher in the spirit world; Sam (rapper DNA), a spirit who entertains and enlightens Zach; The Shadow Spirit (Graham McTavish, “Rome” and the upcoming “Rambo IV”), a ghost from the Dark side; and fashion model Taylor as Katie, Zach’s girlfriend. The web series is directed by Claudio Faeh (”Coronado,” “Hollow Man 2″).

It is an interesting way to market to online users (although the official sponsor is Saturn) and could also prompt new users to try out their television on demand on CBS. However, it remains to be seen if it catches on!

Scoop on who’s getting fired on CSI Miami

Friday, March 30th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Ausiello spilled the beans last week that someone on CSI Miami is getting canned from his/her job. And now he reveals that the person being fired is a he. But which he is it?

We do know this:

Question: Care to be a little more specific on any of the CSI: Miami spoilers you’ve reported? Ya know, like a hint about who gets fired?— Jackie
Ausiello: This person is a man, and before he has time to head down to the unemployment office, a local TV station hires him as its forensics expert.

So with it being a man, we know Caine would never go and work for a local television station, so I don’t think it is him. Which leaves us Ryan & Delko. Well, Delko has been having problems since he was shot (however to be fair, Ryan had problems after he got nail gunned and while 4 or 5 episodes after than made reference to his injury, nothing came of it in the end). But Ryan is the one with connections (and flirtations!) to the hottie news anchor at a local TV station, which I would be willing to bet just happens to be the same station as hottie.

However, I have also been tipped that it is going to be Ryan who is fired, but Horatio gets him back on the team by the end of the episode… but with it potentially being the season finale, my gut says that he won’t be rehired but will at the beginning of next season.

Any other thoughts or spoilers?

Men in Trees not returning until May

Friday, March 30th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

menintreescast.jpg

Men in Trees was supposed to return on April 12th, but now it won’t be making it’s return to ABC until sometime in May. ABC has made the decision to give the 10pm Thursday Men in Trees timeslot to Notes from the Underbelly. Why? Because expanded American Idol results show would mean that the new ABC show would run head-to-head with the popular reality show, and we know how well that works for the competition!

There is always the possibility that it will return earlier in yet another time slot, but right now, it is looking like it will be its usual time slot but not until May.

Sigh.

New Adventures of Old Christine on the chopping block

Thursday, March 29th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

newadventuresofoldchristine.jpg

I am not a huge fan of New Adventures of Old Christine, but I admit I was happy to see that the Seinfeld curse had apparently been lifted. Well, apparently not. Old Christine is back on the chopping block, and speculation is that Julia Louis-Dreyfus cursed it herself when bragging about her hit show on Saturday Night Live.

Two days after Julia Louis-Dreyfus declared it a “big fat hit” on SNL, the show sank to its lowest ratings ever. The only good news is that I hear NBC is interested in picking it up if CBS drops it. Hey, I’ve got an idea: NBC should offer them Medium in exchange for Christine, that way everyone’s happy!

Ooops.

Piper Perabo to guest star on House as his love interest!

Thursday, March 29th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

I just love Piper Perabo from when I first saw her in Coyote Ugly. So I am tickled she will not only be guest starring on House, but she will be playing his… love interest!

Piper will first pop up during the second-to-last episode of the season, but that is currently the only episode she is currently contracted for. However, the role has recurring potential. Wheeee!

30 Rock returns from hiatus two weeks early, on April 5th

Thursday, March 29th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

If you have been suffering from withdrawl symptoms because 30 Rock was sent to hiatus until April 19th, you will be happy. NBC has changed the return date of 30 Rock to April 5th. And wait until you hear the guest stars on the first episode after the hiatus… stay tuned.

Jennifer Aniston & Courtney Cox kiss less sexy than friendly

Thursday, March 29th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

The much hyped kiss between BFFs Jennifer Aniston & Courtney Cox finally aired on Dirt on the F/X network, and let’s just say all those lesbian fantasies just didn’t really come through in the final edit… this kiss was definitely all friends and not sex.

Considering this scene was anticipated so much, and this single scene could have saved the ho-hum series, I really thought they could have sexed it up a lot and made it something more than what it was. Disappointment!

Heather Locklear signs onto ABC pilot See Jane Run

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Heather Locklear is getting another shot at an ABC pilot for the upcoming season since her last pilot didn’t make it from this season.

The former “Melrose Place” and “Spin City” star has taken the title role in “See Jayne Run,” a comedy about a single mom trying to fit her new baby into her type-A life, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The pilot is Locklear’s second in as many years for ABC; last season she starred in the comedy “Women of a Certain Age,” which wasn’t picked up.

“Jayne” will feature Locklear as an investment banker who’s used to living on her own terms and figures she’ll be able to keep doing so even after having a child, which she decides to raise on her own. Not surprisingly, things don’t quite go as planned.

There are quite a few other names already attached to this project.

Locklear is joining a cast that also includes “Big Day” alumni Kurt Fuller and Stephen Rannazzisi, Ava Gaudet (”Ugly Betty”) and Jarrad Paul (”Monk,” “40 Days and 40 Nights”). Alana Sanko (”Murphy Brown,” “Just for Kicks”) created the show and is executive producing with Peter Traugott (”Jake in Progress,” “The Showbiz Show”).

This pilot actually sounds interesting, unlike Women of a Certain Age which just, well, wasn’t.

Crossing Jordan’s Miguel Ferrer joins The Bionic Woman pilot cast

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Crossing Jordan fans have yet another thing to worry about… Miguel Ferrer who plays Garret Macy has signed onto the NBC pilot of The Bionic Woman.

“The Bionic Woman,” a remake of the 1970s series, stars British actress Michelle Ryan as Jaime Sommers, who has body parts replaced with super-strong artificial parts after a horrific accident. Ferrer will play the head of the government agency that rebuilt her, and Bowers (”Rescue Me”) will play her boyfriend.

Ferrer has played Dr. Garret Macy on “Crossing Jordan” for the past six seasons. The HR says that if “Bionic Woman” goes to series, he could possibly remain on both shows; however, he’s the second “Jordan” regular (after Jerry O’Connell) to take pilot work this spring, which may not bode well for its future.

I’d say it’s not looking very good for Crossing Jordan fans.

Leaked Grey’s Anatomy spin-off plot details

Friday, March 23rd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

We all saw what would be the end result of Addison’s and McSteamy’s bet that he couldn’t not sleep with anyone else for a couple of months. While he might be able to pull it off, Addison comes to the realization (again!) that Sloan just isn’t Daddy material… which results in her trip to Los Angeles for the Grey’s Anatomy potential spin-off episode. And fortunately for us, Ausiello has some brand new scoop for us.

Lucky for you, I just received a fresh batch of intel regarding the enhanced two-hour May-sweeps episode of Grey’s Anatomy with a potential for afterlife (aka the spin-off). According to multiple unnamed spies who (lucky for us) can’t keep their traps shut, Addison comes to the conclusion that (Spoiler alert) McSteamy is about a decade away from becoming father material, and hightails it to Los Angeles to meet with one of the world’s foremost fertility experts. Mrs. Egg Harvester is also one of Addison’s BFFs and the owner of a state-of-the-art wellness center, which just so happens to be looking for a neonatal specialist. I think you can figure out the rest.

OK, I admit the spin-off plot is sounding slightly better, but I am still hoping Addison doesn’t leave Seattle Grace.

Missed last night’s Grey’s Anatomy? Repeats tonight on ABC

Friday, March 23rd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

If you didn’t realize that ABC changed their mind and decided to pull last night’s repeat episode of Grey’s Anatomy for a brand new one, don’t forget that ABC will repeat that episode Friday night at 8pm, or if you are in the US, on ABC.com

It is unfortunate that ABC ended up changing the schedule which resulted in many fans missing the new episode… and worst of all, not finding out what happened with Izzie and George on the morning after!

Why did they do that? Turns out that since October Road performed so well last week that they didn’t want to risk losing fans for October Road’s second episode, so they decided to air a new Grey’s Anatomy instead of the previously scheduled repeat.

Despite ratings slip, Lost gets fourth season order

Friday, March 23rd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

With Lost performing worse this season, particularly after the long hiatus break and the change in time slot to prevent an American Idol showdown, it still comes as now surprise that ABC has renewed the popular series for a fourth season.

There is no word on how the fourth season would be structured, but one would guess they’d probably abandon the third season approach that saw fans waiting months between the first few episodes and the remaining ones.

Ugly Betty picked up for second season

Friday, March 23rd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

ABC is bringing Betty back. Ugly Betty has been renewed for a second season. The surprise hit of the new season of the Selma Hayek produced series has been a fan favorite and been doing well in the ratings.

Congrats to the cast and crew of Ugly Betty!

Former Dancing with the Stars Vivica A. Fox arrested for drunk driving

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Vivica A. Fox, who appeared in last season’s Dancing with the Stars, has been arrested on a D.U.I. charge in California.

California Highway Patrol pulled Fox over on the Hollywood Freeway after she passed a patrol car who clocked her at 80mph. Soon after, it was discovered that the 42-year-old actress was driving while intoxicated. Her blood alcohol level was greater than .08 percent, which is the legal limit.

No one in Vivica’s camp will comment on the situation yet.

What is up with these celebs and their drunk driving lately? Itbis kind of unfortunate that Vivica was not still a contestant on the show, they could have booted her butt out of the competition and used her as an example of how a DUI can screw up your career.
