TV Spoilers for March, 2007

Antonella Barba the most popular American Idol

Thursday, March 1st, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Well, Idol producers seem to think it is sad that friends will go and post pics once that person has some degree of success, which seems to have happened to Antonella Barba once she passed Hollywood week. That said, she has definitely hit the top of the list of the most popular American Idol thanks to everyone searching for those supposed sex shots of Antonella pleasuring a guy with her, um, mouth.

Whatever 20-year-old singer Antonella Barba expected to gain from auditioning for the star-making machine “American Idol,” it was likely fame, not infamy. But Barba — until last month a Catholic University student from Point Pleasant with a nice voice — is now at the center of a perfect storm of celebrity and technology, sexuality and morality.

Photos of Barba topless, hands covering her breasts, and on the toilet, appeared on the Internet just as she emerged as a semifinalist on television’s top-rated show earlier this month. Over the weekend, racier photos materialized, including several shots of a beautiful brunette performing a sex act on a man who is not identified.

But supposedly, the infamous sex shots aren’t Antonella, although there has been a ton of fans doing side-by-side comparisons of the pics with known pics of Antonella.

So what do you think, did she or didn’t she?

Vincent Pastore quits Dancing with the Stars after finding it too tough

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Well, there are so many ways you could write the headline when the person who quits Dancing with the Stars after finding it too tough is best known for playing a character named “Big Pussy”. But I degress. However, Vincent Pastore, who played the infamous character on the Sopranos, has quit the popular reality show competition after finding it just too tough.

“When I initially committed to joining Dancing with the Stars, I didn’t realize just how physically demanding it would be for me,” the 60-year-old actor said in a statement. “Unable to put forth my best effort, I felt it appropriate to step aside and give someone else the opportunity.”

“I’d like to thank ABC and the show’s producers for inviting me to participate,” he added. “I wish my partner, Edyta, and the other dancers the best of luck.”

His partner, Edyta Sliwinska, told E! News’ Samantha Harris she was “sad” about Pastore’s departure.

“We started to practice and we had two very good practices, but it was just physically too hard for Vincent,” she said. “He had a heart operation about a year and a half ago and he put on some weight. He just couldn’t do it. He was too tired.”

Wonder who will be stepping up to fill his dancing shoes?

House picked up for fourth season by FOX

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

It should be no surprise for House fans that FOX has already picked up the series for a fourth season.

Season to date, “House” has averaged a strong 7.1 rating/18 share in adults 18-49, as well as 17.4 million viewers. It’s Fox’s top-rated scripted skein, and No. 3 among all webs with adults 18-49.

Show stars Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House, an acerbic but brilliant infectious disease specialist. Omar Epps, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer, Robert Sean Leonard and Lisa Edelstein also star.

Guess the show hasn’t gotten too formula for the network yet! I don’t know about you, but it has definitely started to have the “same old, same old” feel to it.

Las Vegas has been picked up for next season

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

lasvegascast2.jpg

Fans of Las Vegas can breathe a sigh of relief. The popular show starring James Caan and Josh Duhamel has been picked up by NBC for its fifth season. The show, which is set in a casino in Las Vegas, has been a hit with fans for its fast paced and sometimes high rolling ways.

NBC has handed out an early renewal to its veteran drama series Las Vegas, which airs from 9-10 p.m. Fridays, for a fifth season, NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly announced Tuesday.

“The cast and producers have consistently given us what we want from Las Vegas – pure entertainment – and we’re looking forward to another fun ride next season with the show,” he said in a statement.

This season, Las Vegas has been averaging a 2.8 rating/8 share in adults 18-49 and 9.0 million viewers overall. It ranks first in its time slot in the demo and is up 8% versus NBC’s year-ago non-sports rating in the time period.

Who can resist watching Josh Duhamel? And I admit, I love the crossover episodes with Crossing Jordan (which seems to be on the NBC chopping block at the moment).

Bachelor Andy Baldwin stuffs his swimsuit during Bachelorette triathlon challenge

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

A decidely bizarre news story about the latest Bachelor… and how he is enhancing his physical ::ahem:: attributes. While filming segments at the pool at the Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel which saw the Bachelorettes competing in a triathalon (no doubt competing for one of those coveted one-on-one dates) some gossip hunting spies saw Bachelor Andy Baldwin pull a sock from his swimsuit!

Says our man in Santa Monica: “The Bachelor was standing there filming a segment where he was swimming. When he was all done, and the cameras were off, he pulled a sock out of his swimsuit.”

An old Navy trick for ballast, no doubt.

I am betting the excuse was that the water is cold!

Survivor 15 to take place in China

Monday, February 26th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Kristin at E! has some great scoop on Survivor 15, the first of two Survivor editions planned for the 2007-2008 season. And it looks like it will be in China!

From Moxie in New Hampshire: Any word on the next Survivor?
Inside sources confirm to me that it’s for sure gonna be in China! Pretty cool, right?

I am curious where in China they plan on filming it. This could definitely bring some history lessons into Survivor again, which is one part I always enjoy, especially when it involves an immunity or reward challenge that requires the castaways to try and remember those little history tidbits!

Killed off Heroes star Simone Deveaux returns for future episodes

Monday, February 26th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

We knew a Hero was getting killed on Heroes. And we discovered it was Simone Deveaux, who was accidentily shot by Isaac. But Tawny Cypress, who plays Simone, revealed that fans have not seen the last of her character Simone.

TVGuide.com: Condolences, babe. How long have you known about this?
Tawny Cypress: Since mid-December. [Heroes creator/executive producer] Tim Kring called me personally. The second I heard his voice on the phone, I knew. I was really in shock. I went into a cave and didn’t talk to anybody. But after much crying, I’m OK with it. Besides, it’s not over over. In the world of Heroes, anything can happen! I come back in the Mar. 5 episode, and I come back on at least one other occasion after that. So it’s not the end end for me, but it’s the end of what was.

So what do you think this means? We knew she didn’t have a “power” per se. But what if she develops one post-death? Is she a Hero who really isn’t dead? Or will she be merely seen in flashbacks after this?

Brian Austin Green to play gay writer in CBS pilot

Monday, February 26th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Brian Austin Green, best known for Beverly Hills 90210, although more recently on Freddie, has been cast in a new CBS pilot.

Former “Beverly Hills, 90210″ star Brian Austin Green will play a gay man in a new comedy pilot from the creators of “Will & Grace.”

The untitled CBS project, from David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, is about two friends and writing partners, one straight and one gay (Green), and the women working with them (Jessica Capshaw, Vanessa Lengies). The project is loosely based on Kohan and Mutchnick’s friendship.

Funny, I can totally picture him playing a gay character… I remember during his 90210 days thyinking they so easily could have made his character gay, before (or after!) Donna and her virginity got to him!

Bridget Moynahan’s pregnancy results in Six Degrees returning from hiatus

Sunday, February 25th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

What do you do when your leading lady is wrapped up in a scandal that involves a pregnancy and an ex-boyfriend, especially when that ex-boyfriend happens to be New England Patriots QB Tom Brady? Well, you return that show from hiatus of course!

Six Degrees was pulled back in November after airing only seven episodes. But Six Degrees will now be back on Friday, March 23 at 9pm with Bridget Moynahan. The network has said they have no plans to work the pregnancy into the show.

This is definitely one case where an actress pregnancy works for the show… usually producers inwardly groan when a leading lady announces she is expecting. I am curious to see if the pregnancy will end up bringing in viewers to the show that might have otherwise ignored it.

Move over Daniel Powter, Chris Daughtry gets this season’s American Idol exit song

Sunday, February 25th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Remember what a monster hit Daniel Powter’s song Bad Day became after American Idol began using it as the exit song last season? Well, this time around they are hoping to project some of that onto Chris Daughtry - a former American Idol contestant.

The song in question - Home - was actually written by Daughty before he was even a contestant on the show. But because he is signed to the official Idol label, RCA/19, that means American Idol financially benefits from just how successful the song becomes… something they weren’t able to do with the Warner Brothers signed Daniel Powter’s success from the show.

Back in October, Pirie had a meeting with “Idol” exec producer and 19 exec Nigel Lythgoe. Given Lythgoe’s role in helping launch Daughtry, Pirie figured he’d want to hear some tracks from the group’s upcoming album.

“I brought a rough version of ‘Home’ and played it for Nigel. He called up Simon Fuller right away, and they both agreed right away that the song had the sentiment to be the perfect ‘Idol’ exit song,” Pirie told Daily Variety. “It seemed to fit perfectly.”

Although, I can’t be the only one to wonder, why are they using an Idol reject for the song instead of a winner? Granted, Daughtry had a huge cult following on the show and while he made it as far as he did, he still wasn’t the American Idol of his season.

Castaway flips out on Survivor and Gary gets sicker… is he out?

Sunday, February 25th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Gotta love the teaser CBS press releases.

One castaway explodes with anger and starts throwing things around camp. Gary’s health continues to deteriorate and a surprise twist at the Immunity Challenge could change the course of the game, on SURVIVOR: FIJI, Thursday, March 1 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Well, first of all, the twist could simply be Gary AKA Poppa Smurf bows out at the Immunity Challenge, or that the immunity challenge turns into a reward challenge instead. And it would give them the opportunity to shake things up, especially when there is an immunity challenge when no one actually has to be eliminated in the end.

Guesses on who is going to flip out back at camp? Unfortunately, the promo doesn’t reveal anything.

The Bachelor: The Officer and a Gentleman premieres April 2nd as 90 minute show

Sunday, February 25th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

For all you Bachelor fans, ABC is planning on debuting the tenth season of the Bachelor on Monday, April 2nd at 9:30 in the juicy timeslot following Dancing with the Stars. And what is more unusual is that apparently instead of going in the traditional hour-long episode format with a few two hour episodes thrown into the mix, that the show will instead be run as 90-minute episodes.

Lieutenant Andy Baldwin, a 30-year-old Navy doctor and Ironman competitor, is the tenth season bachelor.

It is an interesting decision for ABC to use Dancing with the Stars as the lead-in for the show, as The Bachelor has not had a strong lead-in since it ran after Lost in 2004 (and before ABC knew what a powerhouse Lost would be at the time). So the timeslot could definitely breathe some life into the long-running reality series.

The Bachelor is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Criminal Minds season cliffhanger will see Gideon’s life in trouble

Friday, February 23rd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Michael Ausiello has some great scoop about the season finale cliffhanger, and in involves Gideon, the return of his nemisis, and his life being held in the balance. Which means, he’ll probably be shot, we’ll see him flatline, and we won’t get the situation resolved til the season opener in the fall!

And Gideon’s life will hang in the balance when his nemesis returns in the season finale.

Gotta love cliffhangers!

More details on Grey’s Anatomy spinoff including Taye Diggs signing on

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

addison.jpg

More details are emerging about the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off starring Kate Walsh and her character Addison.

First off, if the pilot doesn’t fly, she won’t be leaving the show. It will be set in a way that if the pilot is picked up, she could leave Grey’s Anatomy, but if not, she’ll be sticking around Seattle Grace.

Taye Diggs, of the cancelled Day Break series from this season, will play opposite Addison.

The potential spinoff will test the waters as a back-door pilot, an expanded two-hour episode of “Grey” slated to air in May. It will center on neonatal surgeon Addison Shepherd (Walsh), a character that has enjoyed a strong following from fans since she was introduced at the end of the hot surgical drama’s first season.

It is understood that the back-door pilot episode will feature Shepherd on the verge of leaving Seattle Grace, a scenario that will be triggered if ABC goes with the spinoff for next season. There were no details on the character Diggs will play.

“Grey” creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes is writing the episode and is expected to shepherd the potential series. Meanwhile, Rhimes’ other pilot for ABC and ABC TV Studio, about female journalists, has been pushed to a summer production start.

I admit, I am happy to hear that even if the pilot fails to take off that it means Kate will be sticking around. I hate it when a popular character gets spun off, the new show tanks, but they don’t return back to the other series.

New Adventures of Old Christine to return in March

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

newadventuresofoldchristinecast.jpg

Just in case you were wondering what happened to New Adventures of Old Christine, don’t worry, it is returning next month after being unceremoniously dumped for Rules of Engagement. But the show now has an airdate for the show’s return in March, albiet in a weird kind of schedule.

March 12th will see the Julia Louis-Dreyfus series return at 8pm, with two back-to-back brand new episodes. Then the following week, it will move to its normal 8:30 timeslot on Monday, March 19th, where it will replace The Class.

Good news for fans of the show, since it won’t be one of those ugly permanent hiatuses that so many new shows end up receiving.

FOX promos spoil just about everything for The O.C. series finale

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

theoccast.jpg

This has definitely hit my radar that FOX ended up spoiling just about everything that seems to be happening in The O.C.’s series finale… what a way to thank fans who have been eagerly anticipating just what would happen. It is one thing to leak spoilers that fans have to go hunting for (like on here!) but quite another when you reveal all just in the promos for the next episode. Ausiello put it best when he was asked for spoilers on the finale.

What if I told you Julie was the one getting hitched? Oh, wait, Fox already gave that away in the promos. What if I told you Kirsten delivers a healthy baby girl? Oh, wait, Fox already gave that away in the promos. What if I told you that Seth and Summer go their separate ways? Oh, wait, Fox already gave that away in the promos. What if I told you that Ryan and Taylor have sex? Oh, wait, Fox already gave that away in the promos. I got nothing.

How annoying. And in case you still need to watch all these spoilers come to life, the series finale is tonight at 9pm on FOX.

Spencer on Criminal Minds has the attack of a guilty conscience

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Looks like Spencer will be looking back to events that happened in the Super Bowl episode and the one following it in an upcoming episode, and it seems he will be feeling a wee bit guilty over it. From Ausiello:

Spencer will have a crisis of conscience stemming from the hostage situation in the Super Bowl episode.

It will be interesting to see how the show handles the situation with Spencer, as it was definitely talked about (even if hardly anyone watched the show in its juicy post-Super Bowl spot!)

Margot Kidder is returning to Brothers & Sisters

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Margot Kidder will be back on Brothers & Sisters in the role she played during the Valentine’s Day episode. She won’t be showing up until May though, near the season’s end, but will still play Emily, the friend of Nora’s.

Jennifer Lopez to appear on American Idol

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

JLo herself has apparently signed on to appear on American Idol this season, and she may be bringing her hubby Mrs. Jennifer Lopez, er, I mean Marc Anthony along for the ride.

According to American publication Star, Anthony could also be joining his wife on the show. A source explains, “It was Jennifer and Marc who approached American Idol, not the other way around.”

Isn’t it nice of her to try and raise her husband’s career by scoring a gig on American Idol… because you know he wouldn’t be landing the gig by himself.

JLo will make her American Idol appearance on April 11th.
