TV Spoilers for October, 2006

Crossing Jordan’s season premiere date removed from NBC website

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

It has taken a while, but it looks like the webmasters at NBC have finally remembered that the Crossing Jordan website says that the series still said the season premiere was this Thursday, October 20th. Now it has been changed to simply say “RETURNING SOON”.

Still no official word on a new season premiere date for all those fans wondering what has happened to Jill Hennessey’s character.

Las Vegas season premiere bumped back a week

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

First Crossing Jordan got bumped from the Thursday night line up that was supposed to feature the one-two-punch of Crossing Jordan and Las Vegas. Well now, Las Vegas has also been bumped from its season premiere date of October 20th. But fortunately for Las Vegas fans, the season premiere has only been bumped for a week, and is now scheduled to premiere on October 27th, following 1 Vs. 100.

Still no word on the fate of the crossover episode with Crossing Jordan stars, since Crossing Jordan has yet to receive a start date from NBC.

The CW’s Runway has been cancelled

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

It is hard to be a show whose network decides to change the time slot to a day earlier, from Monday to Sunday, without making note of it for fans during the previous Monday’s show. So it really comes as little surprise that Runway from The CW has been cancelled by the network.

Survivor has three hour season finale planned for December

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Survivor: Cook Islands will finish its 13th season on December 17th, with its usual three hour extravaganza. The final episode will run a full two hours, including the voting portion of the tribal council, but as usual, the winner won’t be revealed until the third hour, which also features its usual survivors reunion show.

Medium finally has its fall time slot and season premiere date

Monday, October 16th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Fans of Medium will vbe pleased to know that NBC has finally been given a time slot and season premiere date. Fans were starting to worry that there would be waiting until the new year to see new episodes, but the early demise of Kidnapped, which has now been relegated to Saturday nights, means that Medium has a brand spanking new time slot on Wednesdays at 10pm.

Unfortunately, fans of Crossing Jordan will not see that show hit the Wednesday night time slot instead, which has been waiting for a time slot since it got bumped by the Bob Saget 1 Vs. 100 game show.

October Road latest pilot to be picked up by ABC

Monday, October 16th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

October Road, a family drama starring Bryan Greenberg, has been picked up for six episodes by ABC.

The project centers on a young, acclaimed novelist (Bryan Greenberg) at a crossroads in life when he returns to his hometown to teach at the local university and faces the family and friends he left behind.

The drama pilot, which co-stars Tom Berenger and Geoff Stults, didn’t make the cut in May, but ABC kept the pilot in play by extending the options of the actors in July.

There is no word on if this series will run in the spring, or if it is planned for a summer release yet.

Ugly Betty here to stay for the season

Monday, October 16th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

ABC’s Ugly Betty has been picked up for the entire season. The show, which is the highest rated of all the new series this season, hasn’t yet won its timeslot, but has come in a close second to Survivor, the CBS reality show in its umpteenth season.

Ugly Betty airs Thursdays at 8pm, incase you don’t know when Survivor airs.

Rosie follows in Kelly Ripa’s footsteps, in talks for her own pilot

Monday, October 16th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

And to think Rosie O’Donnell was worried about taking too much on her plate by joining the view. She is now in talks to star in her own pilot.

Wonder how Babwa’s going to feel about this: Rosie O’Donnell is in talks to star in her own primetime drama from the creators of “Nip/Tuck,” and she’d star as the caustic, diarrhea-of-the-mouth-plagued lottery winner Dawn Budge, whom Rosie memorably portrayed in a much-buzzed-about guest-starring turn.

The series would be filmed in New York, where The View currently tapes daily for ABC.

Jericho picked up for the entire first season

Thursday, October 12th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Jericho fans will be happy to know that the what-happens-in-small-town-America-during-a-nuclear-war drama has been picked up by CBS for the full season. The show has had about 11 million viewers, which is promising for a new series.

The cast of Jericho includes Skeet Ulrich, Gerald McRaney, Ashley Scott, Pamela Reed, Kenneth Mitchell, Lennie James, Sprague Gradon, Michael Gaston, Erik Knudsen, Brad Beyer and Shoshannah Stern.

Chad Lowe the latest to join the cast of 24

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Chad Lowe, AKA the ex Mr. Hilary Swank, is joining the cast of 24 this season. He will portray the “savvy politico” Reed Pollock when the series starts its sixth season in January.
Lowe has done plenty of guest starring stints in recent years on various television shows such as CSI: Miami, Without a Trace, ER and Medium.

It is not yet known if he will appear in the four hour extravaganza that will make the two day season premiere on the popular season, or if he will arrive later in the season.

It’s a pretty plum job for someone who has been known as late as being either Hilary Swank’s husband, or being the Oscar winner’s ex-husband, because despite his recent acting credits, he hasn’t done much to be noticed for since his Tiger Beat days as a teen heartthrob. I am sure it is something all husbands of famous women worry about… just imagine where Kevin Federline would be tomorrow if Britney finally came to her senses and kicked him to the curb. Probably no where except for “Where are they now” columns in People magazine that tell of his Vegas clubbing ways.

Extend NBC’s Heroes with online graphic novels

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

heroes2.jpgNBC is following in the footsteps of shows like Lost that have online components for fans to enjoy after watching each new episode. But Heroes has a decidedly unique and unusual online component - graphic novels that can be either read online or printed for offline reading.

Some of the graphic novels extends on what happened on the episode, for fans who are left wanting more as each new episode concludes. Others will simply be based on the series.

At nbc.com/heroes/novels, fans can interact with the Web’s Flash creation or download a printable version of several vibrant color “pages.” The debut explores the background of the investigating Suresh character (Sendhil Ramamurthy) in ways the on-air show can’t. Each chapter “won’t necessarily be about that episode,” series creator Tim Kring said in a recent conference call, “but it can be an alternate look at what you’ve seen, or a story that just enhances your appreciation of the characters.”

It is definitely an interesting concept, and could draw new viewers into the series who are graphic novel fans, a fairly new genre of publishing that doesn’t have a wide selection available yet.

CBS has ordered Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith medical pilot

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

CBS has ordered up a medical drama pilot from the team of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who were behind the successful series All of Us. The untitled drama will be set at the CDC - Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

Based on an idea by the acting couple, the untitled drama is described as a mix of mysterious and emotional stories. It chronicles the medical adventures of the CDC doctors who fight the diseases and viruses that threaten people worldwide.

Jan Nash and Jennifer Levin will write the pilot script, having worked together on CBS’ crime drama “Without a Trace.”

No word if Mr. and Mrs. Smith will be appearing in the series as well. I would love to see Will Smith back on a television show again!

Roger Daltrey of The Who to guest star on CSI

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Not everyone realizes that it is The Who songs that play during the opening credit sequence on each of the CSI franchises - CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; CSI: Miami; and CSI: New York. But everyone will get to see The Who lead singer Roger Daltrey on CSI as he will be guest starring on the original CSI series.

They are keeping mum on just what character he will be playing, but what CBS released hints that it will have an impact.

Daltrey is set to guest star on an upcoming episode of the hit CBS show. Producers are keeping details about his character under wraps, calling it “a surprise role that will keep viewers guessing.”

The song “Who Are You” by the Who has served as the theme for “CSI” since the show’s launch in 2000. Two other Who songs, “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and “Baba O’Riley,” are the themes for spinoffs “CSI: Miami” and “CSI: NY,” respectively.

I would hazard a guess it will be during sweeps.

Dixie Carter headed to Wisteria Lane on Desperate Housewives

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Designing Women alum Dixie Carter has been busy filming episodes of Desperate Housewives. Carter, whose personal assistant while on Designing Women was actually none other than Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry (yes, you read that right!) has also recently appeared on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as well as Hope & Faith.

She will portray the mother of Orson (Kyle MacLachlan) for her guest starring run on Desperate Housewives.

It’s official - Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie Reunite On-Screen for new Simple Life season

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com
hiltonrichie.jpg
Sunday the story broke that Paris Hilton and ex-BFF Nicole Richie were out having a civil dinner at LA’s Dan Tana’s Saturday night. Now the two have set their differences aside to film the fifth season of The Simple Life.

As you may recall, last season’s episode didn’t have the feuding dui even appear on screen together, and it seemed certain that the series was doomed for a next installment. But now it seems the BFFs are back on, and getting ready… to go to camp!!

The 25-year-old celebutantes will be camp counselors in the newest “Simple Life” adventure, which is set to begin production next month, Murray said. The show will air on E! next spring, he said.

The show will delve into “what led to the breakdown in the friendship and maybe some of the misunderstandings and things that got in the way,” he said.

While neither Paris nor Nicole has confirmed it, most believe the feud began after Nicole showed the infamous Paris Hilton sex tape at a party she hosted.

The fifth season of The Simple Life will begin taping next month for a spring premiere on E!

Bet FOX is wishing they hadn’t dropped the series now that Paris and Nicole are “back on”!

Kathy Najimy joins Numb3rs

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Kathy Najimy - who I will always remember best from the Sister Act movies - has signed on to join the cast of Numb3rs. It is a recurring role, where she will play opposite Charlie Eppes (David Krumholtz) as the division chair of the physics, math and astronomy departments at the university.

Najimy will begin filming her role on the CBS show this week. Numb3rs airs Fridays at 10pm on CBS.

SpoilerBuzz Worth Watching for Tuesday, October 10th

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Here’s what’s worth watching tonight. Our Best Bets are in bold….

Which network has the best viewing night in SpoilerBuzz opinion? NBC, although if it hadn’t been for Jerry Lewis, The CW would have the SpoilerBuzz crown for the night.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC) - Jerry Lewis guest stars, and is almost unrecognizable in his role as a homeless man.

Gilmore Girls (The CW) - Lorelai can’t understand why her parents don’t care about her broken engagement.

Veronica Mars (The CW) - Veronica hits the sorority house on an investigation.

Nip/Tuck (FX) - The episode with Brooke Shields guest starring.

And the rest that is new…

ABC - Dancing with the Stars; Help Me Help You; Boston Legal

CBS - NCIS; The Unit

FOX - Baseball, sigh.

NBC - Friday Night Lights; Law & Order: Criminal Intent

A&E - Dog the Bounty Hunter
